Branded content

We were tasked to help promote Activisions upcoming remake of the classic video game Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater and it’s sequel, bundled together under the title THPS 1+2. The mission was to market the game to a new audience of gamers and skateboarders, who might not have grown up with the original titles.

Concept

Our main idea was to create a promotional video in the style of a vlog or an episode of a tv-series. Combining gameplay and real life skateboarding with comical elements, we wanted to create a lighthearted take on the sport. To better resonate with our audience and the Swedish market as a whole, we decided to use two people with wildly different experiences of skateboarding. The first being professional skateboarder Günes Özdogan and the other being rapper 1.Cuz. Combining two, at their core, underground cultures seemed like the perfect match. Both rooted in rebellion, youth and urban expression.

Results

The production resulted in a six minute video published to our YouTube-channel, which in itself produced several short clips for our TikTok and Instagram. The original video quickly amassed over 70 000 views while the first TikTok reached 50 000 views and several reposts, going semi-viral on both TikTok and Instagram.
