Multi-platinum recording artist Ant Wan asked us to produce a music video for the track ”1942” from his third album ”Leyla’s World”. A somber track consisting of sweeping synths, an ethereal vocal sample and a rich baseline, it marked a new era for the young artist’s sound. Apart from the planning and production of the music video, we were also tasked to handle it’s social media-rollout.
The video takes place in one of the most northern parts of Sweden, in the area of Lappland. It’s vast environments and stunning nature provides the backdrop for an otherworldly setting, in which Ant Wan is the sole inhabitant. In the video we see him wandering through endless snow-covered fields, following a light in the sky which eventually leads him to a massive reflective structure, where he looks at himself before the video cuts to black. We created a feeling of isolation conveyed in the form of a great journey, mirroring the sound of the track and the explorative nature of Ant Wans art.
Amassing over four million views on Youtube to date, the video received both critical and commercial success. As well as trending on Youtube for several weeks it became the fourth most viewed Swedish music video of 2021. Being heralded as a landmark in Ant Wans career up to that point, it sparked outrage from the public when the video was snubbed for ”Music Video of the Year” at the Swedish Grammy awards.
